Thank you Badersfield, St Edwards Church, Officer Commanding and Cadets North Walsham Air Cadets,The Spirit of Coltishall Association, and of course, our piper from The City of Norwich Pipe Band for a first class Remembrance Service today. As Parade Warrant Officer, it made me extremely proud that we continue to turn up and show respect not only to our comrades who have gone before us, but also to those who are sick or injured. With apologies to anyone I have failed to mention. Whilst we will never cause The Brigade of Guards to have any worries that we will rival their standard of drill and bearing, we continue to turn out in force, and despite our creaky limbs and advancing years, we still manage to march proudly with heads held high and I have received many compliments from those watching, so a big well done and thank you to all. The church service was, as ever, just right, thank you to the Rev Debs, as she likes to be known as, and her team for their sterling effort. I also commend the staff of The Goat pub, some would say a fitting establishment for we old goats of SoCA, I wouldnt dream of course of saying such a thing, the food was excellent, as was the service. I would also like to say a very well deserved word of thanks to the often forgotten spouses and partners who so often make sure we are at the correct place, on time and smartly turned out, where would we be without them. (Answers to me on the back of a crisp £10 please). A big thank you to all from me, and Gentlemen please remember I am an ex pongo. and the mere sight of an umbrella on parade will only cause me to twitch uncontrollably and be heard to grumble ceaselessly about bleeding soft crabs whilst taking names for a cookhouse fatigue party at the next Burns Night. (Note to self - Do blue-jobs even know what a fatigue party is ?). All in all though, another very good Remembrance Parade and a heartfelt thank you from me. At the going down of the Sun and in the morning, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
