Thank you Catherine, Ankit and Aditya for nominating me for the challenge. Im not an avid reader and I rarely get time to read books these days so my list will be a mix of fiction, non-fiction and some technical stuff (do excuse me for that!). Whats interesting with books is that once you have read a book it becomes a part of you. Somewhere in your character or in your actions the things that you admired do reflect and develops you into a better person. So, here I list ten books (in chronological order) whose memories have stayed with me till date. Amongst them there are a few books which have played a crucial part in my life and developed me into a person that I am today (in caps) ... 1. The entire Enid Blyton series of Famous Five and Secret Seven: these were the very first books that I were introduced to. Issuing and re-issuing them from the school library and reading them lying on the bed at nights still remain as some of my most favorite childhood memories. 2. EINSTEIN by Geremy Bernstein: Its a leap from Enid Blyton series to Einstein :) The book gave me an insight into one of the sciences most enigmatic minds. It was an easy book to read but it had a very deep impression in me. I figured out that science is my passion after reading this book. 3. LECTURES IN PHYSICS by Richard Feynman: This is a masterpiece. Every time you go through this book you find that Prof. Feynman has something deeper to say. Even after so many years whenever I read this book I find something new always! 4. Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler: This is again a powerful book to read. It discusses Hitlers early life as a struggling artist in much detail. The most interesting thing in the book is to figure out the delicate line separating good from evil. 5. A Beautiful MInd by Sylvia Nasar: I read this book after watching the Ron Howard movie by the same name. The book (as well as the movie) for the first time made me introduce to the life of professional mathematicians. This was the first book that I bought from my childhood savings :) 6. Love Story by Erich Segal: A beautiful book rather a beautiful story. I completed the book in a single take. Also, it helped me discover another dimension of me ;) 7. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks: Another love story which I really liked and made me realize the power of love ... 8. THE FOUNTAINHEAD by Ayn Rand: I owe a lot to this book as it made a radical transformation in me. The character of Howard Roark has made an impression in me so deep that it would last forever. 9. How to Solve it by George Polya: Another classic book that pervades into the minds of working mathematicians. This is a must read book for every curious person who aspires to take up mathematics someday! 10. MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS by Walter Rudin and Tom Apostol: Actually these are two different books but go by the same name. I was lost and I needed something really challenging yet lucid to figure out where my real heart lies in. These books made me finally figure out what I really want to be ... So, this was my list of ten books that have transformed me and made an individual that I am today! I nominate Aniket, Audrita, Sheetal, Aditya, Gopal, Somok, Adeeba, Sayantan to list theirs :) and dont forget to tag me ;)
