Thank you....Thank you! To everyone who jumped in to help our female veteran in need. We are so blessed to have so many wonderful, giving friends here on FB and in our community. You ALL warm my heart every day. We have some items already in the warehouse and others on the way. Rest assured that anything that doesnt fit will be saved for the next female veteran that needs our help. Many people know we assist military families with food but we are much more than a food pantry. Just like our call for clothing for a veteran, we assist with clothing for the whole family if needed. We try to have some nicer pieces for men and women who have job interviews or a new job and no appropriate clothing. We supply all military families with children school supplies to get them ready for back-to-school and throughout the school year. We are currently looking for some backpacks for the school supplies for the kiddos so they will be completely ready to start school next month. We do not normally have furniture BUT when needed we put out the call. Last year in our part of PA there were 7 military families that lost everything to fires in their homes. Several of Berks County homeless vets have recently been placed in housing so we may be looking for some assistance with furniture in the near future. What I am trying to express here is that we do our best to assist our veterans and military families in any way possible. We are called The Military Family Pantry at Keystone Soldiers because we do more than just food. Our volunteers listen and want to help. They are committed to helping. Sometimes just having a cup of coffee and a friendly ear can make a huge difference to someone in need. If there are needs we cannot help with we will call another agency that might be able to jump in with assistance. We still do our care packages for the deployed and are still in dire need of funds for shipping. We are almost into the Christmas Stockings for Soldiers campaign for 2014 and will need to raise enough funds to make sure all the stockings (6,000) get mailed on time. In spite of the drawdown in troops there are still plenty who are serving far from home and deserve our respect and support. Soooo now you know. We are so much more than a food pantry. No matter how you want to help we have a way that anyone in our community or around the country can step up and make a difference in the lives of our troops, their families and our veterans. Thank you for your continued support!
