Thanks Fred Baker for sharing this with me and others in our community. While there may indeed be some police officers who are problems in our communities, the police chief of Milwaukee correctly pointed out that one of the biggest threats to our communities comes not from bad police officers, but from many thugs and criminals who are armed predators driving up and down our streets killing and robbing and raping like the terrorists those thugs are. Every time a police officer makes a traffic stop or attempts to respond to a call for help from some victimized community member, that officer never knows if the person who he apprehends will be armed and waiting to blow him away. While we are right to demand professionalism and respect from our police officers when they interact with us, we have to give thanks to those many good police officers who risk their lives everyday to make sure that we and our children can be out in the streets of our community with some degree of safety and hope of getting home to loved ones too. I recommend that you listen to the comments by the Milwaukee Police Chief and add that to a part of the discussion which is ongoing about community policing and interaction between law enforcement and residents in our communities. We need to give support and thanks to those men and women who daily risk their lives for you, me, and our children and loved ones...
