Thanks to Kundan, I have been nominated for the #BookBucketChallenge, so here goes my list of 10 books that have impacted me in some way or the other, including but not limited to: 1. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, a brave and matchless critique of modern consumerism rendering us getting owned by our possessions, our life ending one moment at a time, where the Protagonists charismatic alter ego confronts these illusions for him. Its film adaptation was equally exceptional (IMDb 8.9/10) where Brad Pitt immortalized the idiosyncratic Tyler Durden. 2. This has to be Julius Caesar. I read it as a part of my school curriculum but I recall the thrill I had while reading the clever dialogues and muse at the play. Incidentally I also was quite interested in Roman mythology then and this coincidence made this book unforgettable. This was undoubtedly the best among Shakespeares works that Ive read (Twelfth Night, As You Like it, The Merchant of Venice). 3. Enid Blytons works. Perhaps due to childhood memories, these books are quite close to my heart. These include the Secret Seven series and the Famous Five series. Also, quite foolishly, I stopped reading her works after I realized she was a woman. 4. The Inimitable Jeeves by P. G. Wodehouse. 5. The Brethren by John Grisham. A comical depiction of the skeletons we all have in our closets. 6. The Art of War by Sun Tzu. This ancient treatise explores the importance of careful planning over military strength. 7. The Honorable Company by John Keay and India, A history by the same author. These two books cover a substantial part of Indian history and culture, starting from the dawn of civilization all the way down to the freedom struggle. These two also showcase that perhaps our culture was not as glorious as we (wish to) believe. 8. The Winner Stands Alone by Paulo Coelho. This book had an untypical charm and showcased revenge, resoluteness and a fanatical zeal for accomplishment. (Though I had picked the book thinking that it would be a self-help book, judging by its name) 9. How to Win Friends and Influence people by Dale Carnegie. 10. The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Abhijeet, Abhilash, Rohan, Nitigya and Jeetesh I nominate you guys for the challenge (In case you have not already done it). Do tag me in! :)
