Thanks to WSM AM 650, the home of the Grand Ole Opry since 1925, and the Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree since 1947, for allowing me and a guest to attend the entire series of 6 Bluegrass at the Ryman concerts as their Grand Prize Winner. Now I just need to clear the dates with my bosses, the one in Smyrna, and the one in Nashville. The Ryman Auditorium is considered to be the home of bluegrass since it was the first stage on which bluegrass as we know it today was played with Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, Chubby Wise, and Howard Watts took the stage on December 8, 1945, which was the first performance Earl Scruggs played with the Bluegrass Boys. His 3 finger rolling sound, along with what Bill had been doing, cemented the sound for which Bill had been looking. Any chance to attend anything at the Ryman is very special. The Union Gospel Tabernacle, as it was originally known, is THE place to see and listen (the acoustics are perfect) any concert.
