That emptiness that we feel inside, that chronic dissatisfaction, that dull feeling that won’t subside, I know that well. I thought that there was something I had to do to make it go away. I thought there was something that I had to fix so that I wouldn’t feel so despondent. Once I figured out what was wrong, I could reason how to make it better. And thus my quest for the “answer” ensued. But the thing is, there is nothing we have to DO, fix, or figure out. That emptiness inside us is a place where our souls are begging to return to. The thing about the soul is that she will fade away and become absent when we are not listening to her; when we lead our lives based around what everyone around us wants. Our lives must be based upon what WE WANT. Not our lovers, best friends, and families. It may feel selfish at first but it’s not. You might not even know what you want and that’s perfectly OK. I did not know at first. Start with what you don’t want, and waiting on the other side you will find what you do. xo
