The 22nd of July marks a very important day in the History of Swaziland. This date in 1899 saw the birth of the great King Sobhuza II, a king that believed in peaceful negotiations and was against violence. Through his belief, he managed to negotiate Swaziland’s independence from Britain without the any bloodshed. He was a king that also believed in unity, a non-racial society and conveyed this message through to other African leaders. Buntfu bakhe (Humanism) will always live inside all of us true Swazis as we aim towards his vision of a united African Continent. Miss Swaziland 2013 salutes this great Swazi Hero. In the words of our great King Sobhuza II, “Unity is Strength”. What does this memorable day in history mean to you?
