The A-Grade will resume next Saturday in a commanding position in their clash with Langhorne Creek at 2/79 having earlier restricted the visitors to 94. Opening bowlers Steve Nettle and Mitch Hein made in-roads early for the Echidnas, both snaring 2 wickets each from long spells before Matt Hein and Drew Poynter both claimed one each before the break to leave the Creek reeling at tea, having crawled to 6/63. Drew then claimed another 3 of the remaining Langhorne Creek wickets with a bustling spell to restrict the visitors to 94. Matt Hein and Danny Hughes confidently opened the batting for Wistow with the first 50-run opening partnership in living memory with some flourishing stroke-play, including a 6 from Matt. However, 6 overs from stumps Thommo decided hed seen enough, and in true Thommo fashion adjudged Matt LBW. Danny Hughes then went in the same over attempting an audacious lofted off-drive, but nightwatchman Steve Nettle and, riding on a wave of fresh confidence having earlier been elevated from worst No.3 in the league to second worst No.3 in the league, Dave Kinlough negotiated the final overs to have Wistow requiring just 15 runs next week to claim first inning points. The B-Grade put in a spirited performance, but were ultimately unsuccessful in their pursuit of Callingtons 137.
