The Aftermath of Arthur - ( A Community Rising) Todays verse from Word of the day -Proverbs 17:17 - A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity. Seems very much applicable to our times as a province in the aftermath of the storm. As the old saying says, It is a mighty ill wind that doesnt blow up some good along its path. Though the damages, losses and inconveniences are undeniable as well as very challenging, I see good emerging through the fallen trees, broken branches, and candlelit homes. First of all to my knowledge there have been no fatalities and/or major injuries as a result of the storm which is truly remarkable. I see neighbour helping neighbour, families & friends coming together and playing board games as well as and perhaps most importantly, having conversation. I hear of a store that had no power and before their meat spoiled decided to have a big community barbecue for all those in the area. All throughout our region those with power are opening their homes to those without. NB Power employees are sacrificially working around the clock, municipal authorities and some local businesses have opened their buildings for public use. I definitely see some good. Though infrastructure has been damaged and our busy lives disrupted, I see the building blocks of a return to the things most important in our lives like: Faith, Family, Friends, and Neighbour helping Neighbour. Out of the fallen trees, I see a community rising. A special thanks to my neighbour Jamie Bird and my father who helped me in removing trees that had fallen on and around our home and significantly inspired this writing:). With a Grateful Heart, Richard
