The Australian Bach Society invites to The Melbourne Bach Forum 2014. This three day event features lectures on the music of Bach by some of Australias most eminent musicologists and academics. The forum will take place from Friday 25 July until Sunday 27 July, concluding with a performance of Bachs cantata Es ist das Heil uns kommen Her as part of the morning service at St Johns Lutheran Church, Southgate. As part of the Melbourne Bach Forum, Professor Christoph Wolf (Harvard University, Bach Archive Leipzig) will present a public lecture titled Johann Sebastian Bach in Leipzig. Prof Wolff will also partake in a panel discussion about JS Bach chaired by Dean of Melbourne The Very Revd Andreas Loewe and featuring Australian academics Samantha Owens, Jan Stockigt, Barney Zwartz, Stephen Grant as well as Australian Living Treasure The Hon Barry Jones AC. All events are free however please note that registration is required to attend the public lecture by Prof Wolff on Friday 25 July at 5:00pm.
