The CRC FB family has lost a kind, intelligent and valued member - TopicsExpress

The CRC FB family has lost a kind, intelligent and valued member today. He succumbed to pneumonia, as a result of chemotherapy-induced immune system weakness. He wanted to take cannabis oil to ease the chemo, but was not allowed to procure it here in Bermuda. He was quite outspoken about this. Minister Dunkley kindly offered him an import permit, but that was no good, cause no jurisdiction where its legal allows export, and we did not have time to persuade the Minister that it should be made here, and that this would be faster and safer than importing it -- in short, the only way forward. I am awash with guilt that I was unable to help him procure any oil on-island, legal or not. We /all/ let this kind man down, and we all could have done better. I should have been a better activist, and I let him down. There is no question that cannabis could have saved his life. Another Bermudian patient, with the same cancer (but worse), same chemo, had a much milder reaction, and is doing just fine. Everyone knows cannabis mitigates the harmful side effects of chemo.... no one disputes that. Let us find a way forward, so that the next patients life can be saved. Weve heard it cant happen overnight, and wee heard cannabis is too unusual to just be accessible for patients -- they should have to jump through 3-4 months of flaming hoops, because cannabis is too untested. What is the solution? Im not just gonna give up on those patients still surviving -- would you? Should you? Dare you? I call upon this little island to rise above the petty fights and control and ego, and to find a solution to help these patients NOW. I will do my part. Whatever it takes.
