The City of Alpharetta has opened its Community Center as a temporary shelter for motorists who have become stranded due to hazardous road conditions. The shelter is located at 175 Roswell Street in Alpharetta. Our Public Safety personnel are encountering numerous motorists who are stranded or have abandoned their vehicles on the roadside. As a temporary measure we are activating our community center so that these citizens have a warm place to go until other arrangements can be made. While this is not a Red Cross approved shelter and does not offer cots and other conveniences, it is a warm dry place in which they can be safe.
