OF POSITIONS: 1 RATE OF PAY: $1,985.08 to $2,181.19 biweekly (2009rates) POSITION STATUS: Regular Full-time DEADLINE DATE: Friday, August 23, 2013 HOURS OF WORK 37.50 DUTIES: Reporting to the Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for a variety of clerical and administrative duties pertaining to the Fire & Rescue Division. Advanced levels of Microsoft applications are utilized, such as WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT, which would include, but are not limited to the preparation and processing of all correspondence, notices, orders, Standard Operating Procedures and safety alerts. Shall schedule and record minutes of meeting, input requisitions using PeopleSoft Financials and perform duties of shipper/receiver. The successful applicant will be responsible for monitoring and preparing stockroom orders as directed. Arranges and organizes delivery of fire service equipment and supplies for disbursement to fire service sites. Incumbent will assist with determining the requirements for firefighter gear and uniforms for budget preparation purposes. Will create and monitor gear cleaning, examine helmets and other components of personal protective equipment, remove out of- date or damaged personal protective equipment from service, repair or replace gear as required, maintain an adequate inventory of used bunker gear and maintain an accurate electronic record of all firefighter gear (Fire Inventory Program). Organizes Windsor Fire & Rescue Services (WFRS) clothing order system, including the procurement of samples, recommendation of new/additional items, compilation of orders and entering requisitions. Maintains inventory for medical supplies and distributes as required. Will make purchases for Windsor Fire & Rescue Services (WFRS) using a corporate credit card and may liaise with the Purchasing Department to facilitate contract and purchase order processes. In the event of a large scale emergency situation, regardless of the time of day, the successful candidate will be responsible to provide support in the Emergency Operations Centre when activated. Performs Occupational Health and Safety duties as outlined in the Corporate Health & Safety program. Will perform other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus one year post secondary education in Office Administration or Business from a community college or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalencies. Must have over six (6) months experience in a computerized office environment utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite of Products such as advanced levels in WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT. Must be proficient in word processing with a minimum typing speed of 40 w.p.m. Must have the ability to travel to off site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required. If method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid and lawful Driver’s License is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act. Must have excellent written and oral communications skills as well as strong public relations and organizational skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision. Must have previous experience working with and recording minutes of committees. Will be required to complete a post-offer strength test in an effort to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely and to aid in minimizing injuries on the job. Knowledge and experience with PeopleSoft HRMS, AMANDA, Crisys, WebEOC and Fire Management software will be considered an asset. Previous experience working within an emergency environment considered an asset.
