The Counselor 2/4 Ridley Scott directs the first original screenplay from novelist Cormac McCarthy. Sounds like a great plan, but it just doesnt shine like it should. The story is interesting. A lawyer, Michael Fassbender, decides to not just represent the bad folk but join them in a drug deal. Things go way wrong. He finds he is out of his league. The rest of the cast is good, if not somewhat creepy. Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz and Brad Pitt the biggest names. There are some gruesome scenes, showing just how ruthless real criminals can be. The five minute scene with Ruben Blades is the stand out personally though. A bit too much talking; not enough action.
