The ‘Culture Clash’ evenings were a series of 3 events that ICG hosted in Bristol in 2010. We invited artists from abroad to play alongside artists in Bristol and each event focussed on a different style of music. Culture Clash 3 was an event that none of us will easily forget! The event featured Dutch lunatics ‘Staatseinde’ alongside Bristol’s VISONero and Vibratronics . As the show began the audience started to fill up the venue and around 10 Bristol ‘rude boys’ stormed the door and refused to pay entry. Some of them got on stage and started to grab the microphone from the singer of Vibratronics and soon chaos ensued! They tried to steal bottles of whisky from the upstairs bar and the show had to be stopped to try to calm the situation down! The landlord and bar staff tried to stop them from stealing anything else but the staff where assaulted and bottles were thrown, 2 people kicked to the ground and the gang of youths ran off into the night. The police were called and the venue was left empty all except the ICG crew, bar staff and bands. But the show continued!......... Staatseinde took the stage to an empty room, playing their set in a crazy way, working with the frustration of being caught in a UK bar brawl! Then suddenly the venue started to fill up with middle aged women and their husbands who had heard the music from outside. So Staatseinde kept the party going and played for over an hour, with everybody dancing and having a fantastic time. At the end of the show they were so happy they gave donations to the bands and bought merchandise and hung out with us. Wow, it was what we all needed after such a difficult night! The bands and ICG staff all retired to ICG HQ to continue the party supplied by the bar staff with various bottles filled up with cider and ales for us to enjoy. See the craziness for yourself! youtu.be/_Loamy9Atz0
