The DALMAC photo contest committee is very pleased to announce the winner of the 2014 DALMAC photo contest! :D Congratulations Chris Haddad!!! :D Chris shared his familys very special story with us when he submitted 2 pictures to this years contest, and has given us permission to share his story here with all of you great people who make DALMAC so special. In Chris words.......Even though this email contains a number of pictures, the only ones I would like to submit for this years photo contest is the first one and the last one..... the rest of the story... Photo #1: Pictured first is Luca Schertzing and Chris Haddad. Im the tall one, the little guy is my Grandson. The picture is very special to me for a number of reasons. You may think its because we appear to be laughing and talking about how much fun it was rolling into Lake City in the huge draft line. But let me tell you the rest of the story... Photo #2: You see, each Labor day weekend for more then 31 years, DALMAC has been somewhat of a family tradition. But the tradition actually started 41 years ago when our Uncle Norm Eastman began riding DALMAC. He is our true inspiration and in 2014, at age 83 he just completed his 41st straight DALMAC. You may remember that I posted this picture of him on facebook last year. Photo #3: Pictures tell 1000 stories so I thought I would include an early picture of Norm and I, both fashioning the most trendy riding attire from the early 80s. Photo #4: I have 4 kids. Once each child turned 12, as a right of passage, they earned a spot on the back seat of the tandem to ride DALMAC. In this pic is my oldest daughter Danni (Haddad) Schertzing on the morning of her first DALMAC. Most recently she is known as little Lucas mama. Danni rode 2 years with me and has ridden on her own bike a number of times when it didnt conflict with school or work. My son-in-law Brad has ridden a few times but more importantly, he has become one of the finest private sag drivers to ever drive on DALMAC! Photo #5: After Danni rode with me for 2 years, 2nd in line Eric got his turn. Here he is pictured on DALMAC 1988, a few years before he got his official turn to ride. Photo #6: One of my all time favorite DALMAC pics was taken just North of Cross Village in 2004 while I was riding with our baby girl, the youngest....Ashley Haddad. Photo #7: The next photo is my other entry to this years contest which is symbolic of the rest of the story. The passing of the DALMAC torch to a new generation. Pictured here are my grandsons Luca Schertzing and Nolan Haddad in front of a bridge you may recognize. We look forward to the ride every year and will be back for DALMAC 2015 with even more little DALMACers! Grandbro #3 is on the way... Thanks for all your hard work and effort bringing us a great ride every year! See you soon, Chris Haddad
