The Dominican Republic is a country where the word melting pot had its origins. However, the history of white domination throughout the world is, sadly, deeply seated among the dominican culture. Even in this day people are looked upon more favorably when ones skin is of a lighter shade than that of the next. Granted, this is not something exclusive to the Dominican Republic, as this racial discrimination can be still experienced here in the United States and other countries around the world. But for the Dominican political and upper class group to take this hatred to the levels of legislatively stripping the citizenship of people born inside of my country is very angering.
