The English are telling the Scots its their duty to put up with English Tory austerity for the sake of working class unity! My view is that a vote for an independent Scotland would be a progressive vote, it would undermine the strength of English nationalism, it would undermine the British state which, especially since Thatcher, has adopted a finance-based pro-US reactionary role in the world and at home. It would weaken the establishment and strengthen the workers. And for that matter it would weaken the right in the Labour party, which has a strong Scottish base. Britain isnt just another capitalist state, were worse than the others, were run by the bloody bankers, sucking up to the USA to preserve our financial position. Our economy is very parasitic, with little industry and lots of City based banking, its leading to accelerating privatisation, attacks on the welfare state and the nhs etc. A yes vote would undermine the ability of the UK state to carry on as it has been, stealing from the worlds poor abroad and attacking the poor at home. It would weaken our enemies and strengthen us. There are times when nationalism is reactionary, but this is not one of those times. A yes vote would be fantastic.
