The English word “worship” is derived from the Old English - TopicsExpress

The English word “worship” is derived from the Old English word “weorthscipe”; which means “worthiness, acknowledgment of worth”. When something has our “highest position of worth” we “worship” that thing. That thing might be God, money, cars, work, self, church, or a million other things. If we think our traditions are greater than the commandments of God we worship ourselves -- not God. That is self-worship. If we think our church traditions are greater than the commandments of God than we worship our church -- not God. That is church worship. Both of these forms of worship will lead to death. Do you want to know who you truly worship? See who you obey.
