The Fiji women’s team has opened its account at the Oceania FIBA Under 19 basketball meet with a win. The side beat Samoa 65-41 last night in Suva with Bitila Tawake top scoring with 14 points. The Fiji men lost thier first game, going down 61-47 to American Samoa. The Fiji men will play Tahiti at 7pm today before which the women take on the Solomon Islands at 4pm. In other matches played yesterday, in the men’s, New Zealand thumped Tahiti. 126-27, while Guam beat the Solomon Islands 88-13, while Australia won 112-38 against New Caledonia.
