The Fourth of July is upon us, the Napa Valley County Fair is coming. Hope you are having a great summer, and we do hope you have a visit to the Napa Valley & Cafe Sarafornia in your summer vacation plans ! Cafe Sarafornia offers these Breakfast Specials - Our Crab Cake Benedict, Pancakes or French Toast w/ Nutella &, then a Chilaquiila & Eggs - come & enjoy !!! Sarafornia Lunch Specials $10 for the week are - Mon-Tuesday a Grilled Pork Chop, Piperade w/ Pesto & new potatoes $10, Wednesday is $7 Hamburger day - Thurs-Friday an Fish & Chips w/ Spicy tartar $10 Chef Roger Dierkhising (family) is now the Cafe Manager & Culinary Director for Cafe Sarafornia. He is a Chef Instructor at Laney Colleges Culinary Program. Chef Roger was first introduced to the Food Biz in our parents Bar & Restaurant (the LaPlayette, St Joseph, Minn) in his grade school & high school years; then trained at CCSF (City College San Francisco). Through the years, he has cooked for the Gettys, Oracle, the Bohemian Grove, Kuletos, & others. We are very excited to have his food knowledge & taste. There has been a Cafe at this location, at least since 1906, maybe earlier. We think this location is the site of the oldest continuous food establishment in the Napa Valley. The Dierkhisings have been in the Napa Valley since 1976. It was an exciting time, it was the early years of the California & specifically the Napa Valleys wine awakening. The fall of 1976 was when the wines of the Napa Valley rocked the Wine World !!! with Chateau Montelena Chardonnay & Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon, winning the famous Judgement of Paris !! The Napa Valley was on the World Wine Map !! it as an excillerating time. All eight of us Dierkhisings (yes !! we are of German ancestry) are in the Food Biz !! Collectively we have five food establishments in the Northern California Wine Country, two sisters in Minnesota with Sweet PecansJules Caramel company, a sister at the CIA, St Helena & her husband, who is the lead instructor at the CIA, a brother, who is deceased, who was once on the US Culinary Olympic team. There are six chefs in the family. We have four tables & eight chairs in front of the Cafe, so come & enjoy our wonderful summer weather in the 80s. Cafe Sarafornia compost almost everything - food, oils, bottles & cardboard. Our wine offerings are Calistoga AVA wines, we are featuring Beneserre Vineyards 12 Pinot Grigio, & August Briggs Old-Vine 11 Zinfandel; $9.50 a 8 oz carafe, & $7.50 a 5 oz glass. The beers are mostly craft beers. We serve Bloody Marys, Mimosas, Pomosas, & Muddy Marys (beer & Bloody Mary mix). Cafe Sarafornia serves Breakfast ALL day long. We were rated 4.0 by Tripadvisor. We take NO reservations, but the wait is usually no longer than 15 minutes, worth the wait. We thank you for your Loyalty.
