The GHS Cross Country teams traveled to Sequoya Park in Knoxville on Saturday morning to compete in the Cherokee Classic. With approximately 50 schools represented this proved to be one of the larger meets of the season. With each of the Devils and Lady Devils recording either a personal best or seasonal best time, it proved to be a good outing. Alex Haffcke led the Devils over the 5K course with a time of 17:42.17. Grayson Reed followed closely with a time of 17:51.14. Thomas Burkey was the number 3 runner at 18:36.0, followed by Ben Knipp at 18:40.79 and Elliot Leanza at 19:28.62. Rounding out the top seven Greeneville runners were Will Waldroup (20:01.13) and Isaac Hybarger (20:27.48). The Greeneville boys placed 14th overall for the meet. As a result of these efforts, the GHS boys are currently the 3rd ranked A-AA team in the state. Addie Leonard was the top finishing girl for GHS in 16th place at 20:10.23. Sydne Stephens ran a seasonal best at 24:30.53 and Rachelle Wells ran a 28:49.
