The Good Sister Wendy Corsi Staub Harper Collins September - TopicsExpress

The Good Sister Wendy Corsi Staub Harper Collins September 2013 An old house in Buffalo, New York that has been vacant for years is being put on the real estate market by the surviving member of the family. The house holds horrible memories and all of its contents have been put in storage except for a few items the realtor found and turned over to the seller. One of these items is a spiral marble notebook that has been wrapped in a rosary. The realtor assures the seller she has not read anything in it, but the seller can’t take the chance that she did. The next day the realtor is found dead in her own house that has burned down to the ground because of an unattended candle by the drapery. The notebook is the seller’s older sister that had loved and cared for him when his own parents didn’t. The entries tell of his sister’s pathetic life where her father started coming to her bed when Ruthie was a very young child. Ruthie’s death was caused by a malicious prank pulled on her by three of her classmates, and they must pay for their cruelty. Carley Archer has transferred to Sacred Sister’s High School her sophomore year and has been bullied by all the girls in her class. She’s the butt of every joke, most of them pitiless. She can’t complain to her parents because this is the school her mother attended. Her only friend, Angel, is an internet buddy that she found on a bullying forum. Carley has a fourteen year old sister named Emma who is a spoiled drama queen, and they have never been close. At her old school, Griffin Academy, she had a BFF named Nicki and they had been friends since birth because their mothers were friends at Sacred Sister’s. For some reason Nicki has turned against her and written some mean things on Facebook. Carley will never know why now because Nicki committed suicide by slashing her wrists. The Good Sister is without a doubt one of the most chilling suspense filled books I have ever read. It is also one of the saddest books showing how dangerous and destructive bullying now and through the ages truly is. Wendy Corsi Staub has outdone herself with this excellent twisted tale, and her characters are all believable, intelligent and might remind you of people you have known in your past. The Good Sister is dark, sinister, and captivating from page one. Betty Cox, Staff Reviewer ReaderToReader
