The Guam Liberation Historical Society announced the theme and a logo contest for this years Liberation Day. The theme for the 70th Liberation Day is Generations of Service and Sacrifice, or, Meggai Na Hinirasion Setbisio Yan Sakrifisia. The theme refers to families with multiple generations in military service, the Societys announcement states. The logo contest is open to all island students in the 9th to 12th grades. The deadline is March 28. See below for contest rules: LOGO CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES Criteria: Logo Contest submissions must be created using and incorporating the 70th Guam Liberation Day (GHLS) theme - “Generations of Service and Sacrifice”. Artwork must be in good taste and not be vulgar or offensive and must not employ profanity. Artwork must be the original work of the individual and must not have been previously used and/or published in any form or medium. Artwork: Artwork must be a minimum and a maximum of 8.5” x 11” in size. Artwork may come raw and/or camera ready. Submissions: Entries must include name of artist, date of birth, a phone number, a mailing address, school, and grade. E-mail addresses may be included but are not required. Submissions without a name and contact information will not be entertained. Submit artwork to the Sinajana Mayor’s Office or by post mail to P. O. Box 786, Hagåtña, Guam. Artwork may also be submitted electronically to guammayor@gmail . Entries must be postmarked and/or electronically date-stamped by Friday, March 28th, 2014. Entry is Free: Participation in the Logo Contest is free. No purchase necessary or fees assessed for contest submissions. Eligibility: This contest is open to all artists, amateur or proficient, regardless of experience. Contestants must be enrolled in a public or private school, or in a recognized home school on Guam and must be in the 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grades. Only one (1) entry per contestant. Contest Deadline: Entries must be submitted by 5:00pm on Friday, March 28th, 2014. Prizes: 70th Guam Liberation Day Parade viewing spot and $300. The winning entry will be used as the official 70th Guam Liberation Day festivities logo and will appear in all promotional, advertisements, and/or publications of the GLHS. Only one (1) winner will be chosen. Winner will be announced Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014. Decisions: Judges are members of the GLHS Media Committee. Entries are judged on the basis of theme, originality, creativity, imagination, characterization, and artistic quality. All judges’ decisions are final. Artist Rights: The artist retains copyright on his/her artwork submission, unless it is deemed the winning artwork in which the artist forfeits copyright. Winning artwork becomes the sole property of the GLHS. Terms and Conditions: The GLHS reserves the right to use any submissions to include artwork, names, photos and the like in any publication and/or promotional material and/or advertisement of the GLHS. The GLHS reserves the right to disqualify an entry without notice should it fail to meet the standards and criteria. The GLHS reserves the right to change, edit, omit, and/or cancel contest rules and/or contest events at any time without prior notice. Submissions will not be accepted after established deadlines. Winner’s Notification: Winner will be notified by phone, mail and/or e-mail. Winner will be announced Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014.
