The Hazel Green Community lost an Icon yesterday. CECIL passed way. No need for a last name here anyone thats lived here back when it was just a small little community with McNeals Meat Market on the Southend, a Cotton Gin in the Middle, and a School on The Northend knows Cecil. He is the last of the old timers from that era that I know of. He helped so many allowing them to charge their groceries until their paycheck came in or Social Security check came in knowing in alot of cases he would never see his money. I had the opportunity to work for him at his store back in High School on Fridays and Saturdays for about a year and people came from all over North Alabama and Southern Tennessee to buy their Meats from a little ole white block building in Hazel Green which at that time was just a spot between Huntsville and Fayetteville. I got to see first hand how generous and kind he was. I will forever be thankful for knowing Cecil and all the childhood memories I have of going to Mcneals Grocery with my Grandfather and all the old timers sitting around telling storys, will stick with me the rest of my life. Our prayers are with the Mcneal Family with David McNeal David McNeal
