The Holy Grail When I visit the great cathedrals of the world, - TopicsExpress

The Holy Grail When I visit the great cathedrals of the world, gilded with gold, I always ask myself the same question: Is this what the Jesus had in mind? Did you ever see the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? Harrison Ford and Sean Connery starred as a father-son team in search of the Holy Grail - the holy chalice Jesus used at the Last Supper. According to tradition, Joseph of Arimathea, who buried Jesus, stored the blood of Christ in the chalice. The cup and its contents had been passed from pope to pope, until during the Middle Ages it was hidden to keep it out of the hands of infidels. When Indy and his father found the Holy Grail, they found not one chalice but three - one jeweled, one golden, and one of common wood. And if they chose the wrong chalice the cave where it had been stored would collapse, causing the destruction of both chalice and people involved. Any fool would know that the cup Jesus used at the last supper was not made of jewels or gold. So why are the Cathedrals of the world laden with jewels and gold - in places where the masses live in poverty and squalor? Even Indiana Jones knew better than that.
