The Indian National Congress declared on 26 January, 1930 Purna Swaraj or Complete Independence This is honored as the Declaration of Indian Independence Day on the day for Poorna Swaraj, a status validated in 1950 when the Constitution of India came into force, forming a republic. The day is observed as Republic Day in India, honoring both the declaration and January 1950, the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India. The Constitution had been passed by the Constituent Assembly of India on 26 November 1949 but was adopted on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the countrys transition toward becoming an independent republic. youtube/watch?v=Zagm0aLlnxQ
