The Intention of our Products Thursday, June 19th, 2014 What is intention? Intention means ‘the thing that you plan to do or achieve: an aim or purpose.’ Intention is so much more to us than just aiming. Intention for us means acting it out. Tim Fargo says (and we wholeheartedly agree), “Good intentions might sound nice, but it’s positive actions that matter.” And positivity is what we want our products to bring to you. There are thousands of personal care products that exist on the market today. On a daily basis, people are slathering on chemical-ridden concoctions, literally bathing in toxicity, and they don’t even know it. Packaging alone for some of these ritzy, overpriced youth serums and beauty balms costs more than the actual formula inside! Let’s face it, the conventional beauty industry is a commodity-based industry. With catchy advertising schemes to target consumers, saying things like ‘Pretty attracts us. Beauty changes us. Be a force of beauty.’ and ‘Easy, breezy, beautiful,’ this industry clearly knows how to empower men and women with profound-sounding slogans. What they’re not delivering though, is truth and quality to consumers. After realizing all of the ugliness within the beauty industry, we came to a fork in the road. Could we create a line that is truly pure and helps people heal and nourish their skin? Would we go the extra mile to ensure that our products have absolutely no chemical preservatives, synthetic fragrances, parabens, or sulfates? Annmarie Gianni Skin Care decided to choose the path of integrity and purity. We are always honest about what’s in our products. It’s not hard to do when your ingredients are beautifully natural! This article is written with no intention to bash mainstream, but rather with intention to shine light upon the integrity of our products. After all, don’t you want to know what you are really putting on your skin? Integrity First We believe in 100% transparency because everyone has the right to know what’s in their self-care products. We also believe that beauty companies, alike and unlike, should share their story, create products that truthfully reflect their personal values, and promote integrity above and beyond. Unfortunately, there is a small percentage of mission driven skin care companies among those making conventionally mass-produced products. With the infamous petroleum and it’s by-products being the cheapest ingredients available and thus used widely in skin care, integrity in the beauty industry is starting to seem like a thing of the past. As a company, we not only want you to have access to some of the cleanest skin care products around, but also to information on what’s going on in the industry, ingredient safety, health and wellness topics, and overall wisdom that nourishes your soul. We want you to make the safest choices possible for the health of your body and your skin. A company of integrity encourages people to live with integrity and that makes our hearts smile. That’s why we do what we do. Join us in being part of the shift to accountability in the beauty industry! It’s vital. Our Method Let’s starts with ingredients: the source, the process, and getting back to the earth. Annmarie Gianni Skin Care sources only natural, organic, wildcrafted and non-GMO ingredients for our formulas. Sourcing quality ingredients not only allows us to create active, plant-based skin care, but also to support organic agriculture and family-owned farms. Who wants pesticides on their skin, anyway? All of our products are handmade in small batches and made with love. We use cold-pressed oils as a base for the majority of our products. We like to call our method an ‘infusion method’. In this process, a combination of herbs formulated to work synergistically with one another are infused into large vats of cold-pressed oil at 95 degrees. This temperature is high enough to extract the beneficial properties of the herbs and low enough to not compromise the nutrient value. These infusions steep for about 30 days, stirred daily, turning the base oil into a beautiful, deep emerald green: a true indicator of aliveness! Next, these potent infusions are strained and pressed for up to a week. The final step is filtering, another five to six week process. Rosemary extract is added at the end to preserve the oils. The finished oils are either incorporated into other formulas or active emulsions, or bottled as they are. Last, the shelf life of these formulas must be considered, which is why we use miron glass. This 100% recyclable, dark violet glass blocks the complete spectrum of light which would otherwise compromise the freshness of our products. Now that sounds like a pretty amazing beauty oil! What is your skin waiting for? Our Mission Honest. Every single thing we put in our products is listed on the label. We only source our ingredients with integrity. We have workers, the environment and outstanding quality on our minds every step of the way. Wild. Our products are as close to nature as you can get. We use the best organic and wildcrafted ingredients mother nature can provide, giving you a pure experience – free of chemicals, colors and fragrances. Beautiful. This is our promise to you. Use these products and see the results – beautiful, youthful, glowing skin, guaranteed. There are a myriad of skin care lines that have been intentionally “green-washed,” misleading consumers by creating healthy looking labels and using keywords such as “natural”, “hypo-allergenic”, or “made with organic ingredients.” It is likely that these products contain toxic ingredients. So, even if you are purchasing products from your local health food store, research is still encouraged – and it’s easy! Organizations like Organic Consumers Association provide excellent information on skin care safety and transparency, as does the EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetic Database and The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. The conventional beauty industry is filled with dead skin care. What makes these products dead? They usually contain fillers (such as petroleum), that have no nutritional value and are contaminated with carcinogens. Conventional skin care products are also often heated to high temperatures, which degrades active ingredients and nutrients. Why waste money on products that aren’t truly active and teaming with life? Annmarie Gianni Skin Care was created to bring you skin care that is alive and bio-available. It started with a vision of bringing back ancient beauty rituals to the modern world. It has evolved into something so much more: a lifestyle brand that acts out to inspire the world of beauty and wellness. We are a company that aims to spread love and awareness. We want to re-define beauty through our products. Health is beautiful. Integrity is beautiful. Empathy is beautiful. And so is glowing skin. What do you value in skin care?
