The Irish Coast Guard ask that you always log a sail plan whether you are going out in canoes, windsurf boards, dive boats, whatever. You can call the Irish Coast Guard or automate the process and much more with the SafeTrx app. Yesterday, Monday, a boat did not return to Wicklow Harbour, a small dinghy with 2 POB. Wicklow lifeboat and Rescue 116 tasked to the search. The two persons were found by the lifeboat OK. This search would not have been required if a sail plan/TR had been logged. Likewise on the Sunday when a contestant went missing during a paddling race from Streedagh to Bundoran. Rescue 118 and Bundoran lifeboat launched. Craft found by local boat and brought ashore. On the same day an alarm was raised for an overdue boat that had been out angling and hadnt returned. Rescue 115 and Doolin Coast Guard boat tasked. Boat turned up safe and well. please help the rescue services help you and log a sail plan/trip report.
