The Japanese public television station NHK produced a 90-minute documentary about Isbell Farms in Lonoke County. Buses full of Japanese tourists started showing up every month or two to get a peek at the farm (the Isbells would invite them in to their house and Chriss wife, Judy, would make rice for everybody). One Japanese television station arranged to bring some of Isbells rice to one of the premier rice farmers in Japan and some of that farmers rice to Isbell in Arkansas — the Isbells liked the Japanese farmers rice better, but the Japanese farmers daughter chose Isbells in a blind taste test.
