The Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam is a Blessed mix of the simple - TopicsExpress

The Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam is a Blessed mix of the simple and the complicated... Tikkun Olam is called in the Zohar, the practice of a Compassionate Love... We are called by the Hebrew Prophets to its practice: To pursue Justice for the oppressed and the downtrodden... To practice a compassionate loyalty To fill the bellies of the hungry with what we intended for our own bellies, and for our own pleasure... To put warm clothing on the bodies of shivering and ill clad children... We are called to rid the workplace of systemic oppression and exploitation(s) The Kabbalah instructs us to make the comfort and well being of our neighbor as important to us as our own... We are called to: Give Justice to the weak and the orphans... To maintain what is right for the lowly and destitute... To rescue the weak and needy and deliver them from the hand of the wicked ones... Tikkun Olam is not a matter of giving intellectual assent to either the Torah, The 13 Foundations of Rambam, or to embrace as an intellectual exercise the Keter of the Prophet Micah... It is rather to imitate and put into practice the Divine Nature which G-d has breathed into each of us...
