The Kansas Forest Service is teaming up with researchers at Kansas - TopicsExpress

The Kansas Forest Service is teaming up with researchers at Kansas State University to utilize a small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) to monitor woody species encroachment onto tallgrass prairie rangelands. The three invasive tree species we are concerned with are Eastern redcedar, osageorange, and elm. The sUAS uses a color-infrared camera to map these species and monitor their encroachment into upland areas. Annual burning is necessary to keep these trees confined to their native extent along stream bottoms. youtube/watch?v=umCSSBP9Ht8
