The Lawton Chiles Elementary School 2013-2014 PTA year is nearing its completion. As the PTA prepares for a new school year, it is time to select our new board for the 2014-2015 school year. President: Preside at all board meetings; coordinate the work of officers and committees, prepare preliminary plan of yearly events with the board; co-sign checks with the Treasurer and work with the Principal. Vice President: Act as aide to the President; be familiar with the by-laws and PTA handbook; perform duties in absence of President. Schedule meetings and identify needs. Secretary: Record minutes of meetings; help prepare agenda for monthly meetings; conduct all correspondence. Treasurer: Maintain accurate balance of accounts; file tax return for the organization; sign checks; receive and deposit monies to PTA bank account. If you are interested in assisting our school through an elected position in PTA, we encourage you to call the school at (407)737-1470 and dial extension 3574266 or email [email protected] through April 1, 2014. Please leave a message with your name, telephone number, and position you are interested in. One of the members of the nominating committee will contact you. The eligibility requirements for a position within the PTA executive committee include: • being a member of the LCE PTA during the 2013-2014 school year with all dues paid (you can still join through March 31, 2014). • be directly involved with the school, such as a parent, teacher, faculty member or community member, such as a grandparent, guardian or caregiver for a child attending our school. • ALL applicants must be ADDitions Volunteer Approved. The LCE PTA nominating committee is composed of LCE Staff members Mrs. Zaida Torres, Mrs. Claudia Munoz, and Mrs. Kim Rublaitus. The next PTA general meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 4pm. We will have our PTA Elections at that time.
