The Leavenworth Pioneers have been nominated by KCTV 5 as the Hy-Vee Team of the Week. Out of respect to the Shawnee Mission West school community, and the family of Andre Maloney (who passed away after suffering a stroke during Thursday’s game), we would like to encourage voting in the online contest – with the intent of presenting the award to Shawnee Mission West. We are proud of our team and the hard-fought victory, but feel this potential act of kindness is a fitting way to pay our respects to their team, coaching staff, and fans, dealing with the tragic loss of a teammate and student-athlete.
