The Malanda Landcare group have commenced a weed spraying and revegetation along the Johnstone River behind the Malanda Showgrounds. This section of the river bank will be planted with over 600 trees in the near future. The guinea grass has been sprayed twice and one more spray should knock it on the head. You can see how thick the guinea grass is in some areas. Some trees have been identified as dangerous by the Council but the revegetation, in time, will enhance and stabilise the banks. I was treated to an informative lesson in land management by Geoff Onus from NQ LMS. It is good to see the amount of knowledge that is available to the Landcare groups. Thanks Geoff.
