The March of Life~ I LOVE this song. Its my favorte recording of Balinese Gamelan, but i admit i havent heard hundreds or even dozens. I love the phrasing of the lead drum(s) - I think there are actually two, playing off each other. The guy on the off beats has a difficult part. Balaganjur supposedly drives away evil spirits. For me, it does seem to drive away dark depressing thoughts and brings me more into the present moment. I like to play this one with the volume knob on eleven, but i cant afford to blow anymore speakers or get kicked out of my apartment, so i have to settle for a reasonable volume, which adds to the aforesaid mentioned depressing thoughts, or maybe its just less effective in driving them away... anyway, this is meant to be played LOUD.
