The Mary Kay Foundation announced its 2013 shelter grants on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, awarding $3 million in grants to 150 domestic violence shelters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Each shelter will receive a $20,000 unrestricted grant to maintain critical services and programs for survivors of domestic abuse. We’re also pleased to announce that a Mary Kay Foundation grant is helping to fund clinical trials for a new vaccine to treat ovarian cancer patients. “This will be the first of this type of vaccine tested in humans," said researcher Martin Cannon, Ph.D. at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The clinical trial will be a three-way collaboration between the University of Arkansas, the Mayo Clinic and the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute in Port St. Lucie, Fla. We’re very passionate about carrying on Mary Kay Ash’s legacy of love, caring and giving. And we’re proud that these grants will have a powerful impact in supporting our mission to end the epidemic of violence against women and to eliminate cancers affecting women. I love my #marykay
