The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has just released a press release this morning on a officer-involved shooting in Coffeeville: The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is assisting the Coffeeville Police Department with the investigation of an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday night, October 20th. Coffeeville police received a domestic violence call about 9:00 p.m. at 210 Rayburn Street. Police report that David Long, who lives at that address and is wheel chair bound, outside the house at approximately 10:30 p.m. when he pulled a handgun and began firing at the officer. The officer returned fire killing Long. The officer was struck four times and airlifted to a Memphis hospital where he is undergoing treatment. MBI Investigators are conducting interviews and performing other elements of the investigation. Members of MBI’s Crime Scene Unit have processed the crime scene and submitted evidence to the State Crime Laboratory for forensic testing.
