The Morgan was left out of the National Geographic edition - TopicsExpress

The Morgan was left out of the National Geographic edition featuring US horse breeds... what a shame. We worked hard, on our watch, to get the Morgan front and center, even gaining visibility in the Alltech Equine International. Now people need to pull together, be inclusive rather than exclusive, to help these horses gain and maintain their rightful place in American history. Its never too late, but such efforts require people to put aside competitive differences and work together for the benefit of all. AMHA wants people to contact National Geographic and protest; Chris Morris father was a NG picture editor for many a year; if AMHA had reached out to be included in a timely fashion, the Morgan Horse could have been there. Could be there for many other opportunities. Look out at the bigger world, or look in at your competitors: the choice is yours. Your horses fates are in your hands. Do something to help this wonderful breed survive and thrive. As an example of what not to do: we worked hard with Melinda Feldman, her husband, and Ginny Grulke, to start a Kentucky Morgan Horse Association, eligible for its share of racing breed incentive fund money. And got it, by forming the Kentucky Morgan Horse Association, which was promptly taken over by people with a different agenda. Now the Bluegrass Morgan Horse Show is no more and the Kentucky Morgan Horse Association may be the only Morgan Horse Association who did the work to become eligible for a share of racing breed money. Have you stopped reading? Do you care? Because you should: your horse cant speak for itself; you must do whatever you can to assure him a piece of the future. Dont wait for someone else to do these things, because they wont.
