The Morning Report Zeb and I started spraying in Seminole Woods. I - TopicsExpress

The Morning Report Zeb and I started spraying in Seminole Woods. I didn’t spray it last year and you can really tell it. The tropical soda apple has multiplied like you wouldn’t believe and the jimson weed has done the same. I sort of figure that it will take at least three trips through the jimson weed to knock it down for now. If I survive teaching Zeb what to do it will be a miracle. I pointed him the direction that I wanted him to spray and the next thing I noticed was that he was spraying what I had already sprayed. We had a talk then he started out again and then he lost sight of me and started looking, he did seem relieved when he found me. I’m finding out that teaching him things is not as rewarding as it should be. We will survive and he will know how to do it before we are done. We were able to spray for about 2 hours before the rain moved in and ran us out so it wasn’t too bad. Looking at what I have to get done today and tomorrow, it will be Tuesday before we get back up there. Today we are going to mow the yards. I’m going to put Zeb on a zero turn mower and see if he can learn to use it. I’m sure that he can if I speak to him enough. He’s 12 years old and needs a lot of guidance and I need to get a lot more patience. I know that I can do it quicker and sometimes better but he’s isn’t learning anything when I do it. He will learn how to do it. I think that Patti’s talk with Grayson has helped. He actually came to the barn with just a few shouts and Mathew and Eeyore followed. He went to his paddock with a little coaxing and is beginning to come when he is called. He does not like to leave Mathew but is deciding that food is a good thing and Mathew can wait. Maybe when he gets trained he won’t be as attached to Mathew. He is definitely the alpha one of the three. They all pretty well do what he wants; he is sort of pushy with them. Eeyore tries to avoid him altogether but still lets him be in charge of the group. Roper doesn’t quite understand why I have two trailers hooked to trucks in the yard. He still has to check out everything that I’m doing outside and sometimes tries to tell me how to do it. Of course I don’t understand guinea so that even frustrates him more and he gets louder. By this time I’m hoping that something will distract him and he will leave and sometimes it does. Most of the time, I’m able to completely ignore him and that also frustrates him and he will tell me about it. Y’all have a great and wonderful day and remember to take a moment to smell the roses!
