The No.1 Exercise For Weight Loss? Opening... Your... Mind. Yesterday I posted a question on this page, asking who is to blame for the obesity epidemic - the obese individual, the food industry, the health authorities, or the diet industry. It was of no surprise to me that the very first response was this... As someone very very obese being honest Id say its all down to me not exercising enough and eating too much. Rebefit passionately disagrees with this. And heres why... We are in the midsts of a revolution... an enlightenment... in terms of our understanding of weight gain and obesity. For decades we have been taught the caloric model of weight loss... eat less, exercise more and you will burn off your excess fat and lose weight. It just seems to make logically sense, much like spending more and earning less if you want to empty your bank account. But modern research is shedding light on a completely new perspective on the forces that make us fat. It isnt the QUANTITY of calories we eat that make us fat... But the QUALITY of calories. To put it another way... The QUALITY of the calories we eat... Affects the QUANTITY of the calories we eat. In his book Why We Get Fat, Gary Taubes explains this new model of weight loss beautifully, but acknowledges... The kind of change Im advocating could take a lifetime to accept. As sad as I am to agree with him, I predict it will be at least another 30 years before this new model is commonly accepted in the UK, maybe 2040 if were lucky. Rebelfit exists to give those people... those OPEN MINDED people... the opportunity to learn about it.... NOW... before its too late. And by TOO LATE I mean morbidly obese, diabetic or dead. Because lets face it... The eat less / exercise more model of weight loss hasnt helped stop obesity DOUBLING in the last 10 years, has it? And no doubt youve tried the eat less / exercise more approach before and it has worked for you.... TEMPORARILY... but were guessing it didnt last and now youre a whole lot fatter for trying it. (Hello Weight Watchers!! Love you guys! And thanks so much for breeding a nation of food addicts and binge eaters! Mwah X) In 2040, kids will sit in their history classes, learning about the obesity epidemic of the early 21st century and know that it was caused by a combination of INCORRECT nutritional advice from the food industry, the diet industry and the health authorities. Those same kids will sit in their biology class and learn how eating less and exercising more (i.e. joining a slimming club and buying a treadmill) creates a hormonal response in the body that INCREASES appetite and fat storage in the long term. But right now... in 2014... you either... a) dont believe this, or b) dont understand this. So here is our plea to you: Open... Your... Mind. Rebelfit is doing everything we can to educate people on this new model of weight loss, but theres only so much we can do. We have no support from the medical authorities. We have no support from the food industry. And wed rather drag our balls over a mile of broken glass before having anything to do with the diet industry. So were on our own with this. But... by EDUCATING YOU... and by teaching you the new science... our hope is that you can go out and educate others. This is our REBELLION. And we invite you to join it.
