The North Sea in Winter, By Mollie Armatage, When I stand on - TopicsExpress

The North Sea in Winter, By Mollie Armatage, When I stand on the beach in winter, Watching the angry sea, The huge white waves keep rolling, How tired they must be, They roll by day and each long night, Crashing the rocks with all their might, The seagulls watch the restless sea, Above the foam, and seems to be, Forever restless like the waves below, Hoping winter soon will go, The fisherman of our North East coast, Watch the rumbling sea, With breakers rising higher, Their keen eyes scan the sea, Like the lifeboat men at their daily work. They knows that constant dangers lurk, Should a rocket or flare be seen in the sky They risk their lives, only they know why. While their loved ones pray on the shore below, That God will guide them as they go. The keeper in the lonely lighthouse Watches the stormy sea, With the huge seahorses riding, And wonders when hell be Able to go on land once more, To meet his family on the shore, For the angry sea decides these things, And he knows not what it brings, As he watches the swirling sea below, Hoping winter soon will go, His family on the rocky mainland, Watches the treacherous sea, With the wind about them howling, And hope they soon will see, Just gentle waves that rise and fall, Around his house, so white so tall, For though they miss him more each day, They realise that he must stay, While raging seas surge down below, But will this winter never go , The coastguard at his lookout station Watches the changing sea, The high spring tides are nearing For he knows the signs does he, The keeper still must send his lights, For high seas run both day and night, His lonely vigel he must keep, While others rest and calmly sleep, For the sea can be a mighty foe, Surely now , this winter soon will go, patiently copied,Mollie, xx hope you do not mind, To James and John, xxx and all my friends, thankyou,
