The Novus Ordo Watch has come out with a recent article trying once again very desperately to disprove the recognize and resist method so found in church history such as the Arian Crisis and with Pope Honorius. Once again they make attempt at taking encyclicals and not properly applying them given to a Pope who is in error. In theory, of course, one has to give ascent of mind and will to the Pope IF he were actually teaching the true Faith. The Sedevacanists much like the modernists believe the Pope is a DemiGod, a robot, Jesus Christ Himself who cannot error; they have a perverted notion of Papal Infallibility. Please avoid the Novusordo watch who assuredly wanted NO debate with me when I contacted them and scurried off like a squirrel. This National Enquirer type publication should just stick to reporting news and not theology which they are so poor at. Once again the Right and Duty to resist a Pope in error! Its found in Church history Novusordowatch denies this! LOL Pope Innocent III († 1216) stated that a pope can “wither away into heresy” and “not believe” the Faith. The pope should not flatter himself about his power, nor should he rashly glory in his honour and high estate, because the less he is judged by man, the more he is judged by God. Still the less can the Roman Pontiff glory, because he can be judged by men, or rather, can be shown to be already judged, if for example he should wither away into heresy, because “he who does not believe is already judged.” (St. John 3:18) In such a case it should be said of him: ‘If salt should lose its savour, it is good for nothing but to be cast out and trampled under foot by men.’” (Sermo 4) romancatholicism.org/duty-resist.html
