The Oklahoma tornadoes blew away homes, lives…and common - TopicsExpress

The Oklahoma tornadoes blew away homes, lives…and common sense…The storm chaser community was rocked by news that the casualties of last Friday’s Oklahoma tornadoes included well-known storm chasers Tim Samaras, his son Paul and his partner Carl Young. They were killed when their storm-chasing car was struck by a tornado in El Reno. We should all offer our prayers and condolences to their families. But there will always be people who think that every tragedy be dealt with by creating more laws. So there are now calls to “do something” about storm chasers – for their own safety, of course. It’s a perfect illustration of what a reflexive, unthinking position the belief in “more laws, more government” can be. I have a feeling that safety isn’t the number one concern of people who become tornado chasers. Of course, they take precautions, but they know it’s a dangerous field. So what law could possibly stop them? Banning people from driving toward dark clouds? Why not just ban tornadoes? There will always be people who want to study severe weather. They may be brave or foolhardy. But thinking the government can alter human nature…that’s just foolhardy. For more of the Huckabee Report visit MikeHuckabee.
