The PES staff, students, parents and community at large would like to recognize all the people who came together to make our roast beef dinner fundraiser for our STAR campaign a success. Thanks to all who contributed we will be able to buy computers for our school. This dinner could not have taken place without the incredible contribution of the Masters and Masons of St.George #12. Special thanks to Allan Hatt and his wife Lynn who graciously helped with the service, Tommy Borthwick, Robert Melanson, Keith Andrews, Tony Harris, Burton Hall, James McCullum,Teddy Hatt, Sheldon Justason,Gil Breau, and Tony Harris Jr., for all their hard work in preparing this super delicious meal. They not only organized and cooked the wonderful meal for us but also welcomed us with open arms into their lodge. They genuinely wanted this fundraiser to be a success and it showed. Their warmth and positive attitude radiated throughout the event contributing to the fun ambiance of the evening. It is not the first time that PES is on the receiving end of the Masons’ generosity, they have donated bicycles to the school through the Books for bikes program and we know that they are involved in many other philanthropic endeavors throughout our community such as donating Buddy chairs to schools or contributing to the different Breakfast programs as well as being the driving force behind the Dragonfly dinner in support of Autism, school trips, camps for sick kids and so much more. The Masons are a non-profit organization that is vital to our community and we are very fortunate to have them as our partner. We would also like to thank Scotiabank for their involvement in our fundraiser. From the moment we asked them for help, they were whole-heartedly on board, generously offering to match up the donations we raised. The night of the event 5 kind Scotiabank employees selflessly agreed to come and serve the meal for us. We wish to thank Claudine Pohl, Tina Beliveau, Susan Wentworth, Judy Gaudett and Naomi McConkey who took the time on a Saturday night to come and help us. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. With people like you involved in our community, we are truly richer than we think. During our dinner, we were selling tickets for a gift basket, a 50/50 draw and a penny sale which depended on the generosity of people and businesses from the area. Then again, the community did not disappoint. Donations poured in allowing us to have wonderful prizes to offer. We wish to thank Stewarts Esso, Lake Utopia Paper, Smiths restaurant, David Ellsworth, Big Bay Enterprises, J Smith Excavating, Pharmachoice, Connors Bros, Harbour road pub, High Tide Salon, Kelson & Kelson and Donna Legassie and all the other generous sponsors who donated to our cause. We would also like to thank all our guests who bought tickets and came out to support our school. Among them were the family of Maddox Hanley, our MLA Rick Doucet and his lovely wife Debbie, who generously donated her 50/50 winnings back to our campaign. We have to give a special shout out to some of our grade 5 students who helped serve the delicious meal. Elise, Teagan, Kennedy, Morgan, Mallory and Makayla, your willingness to help and your great attitude are, we believe, a reflexion of what you see in your community. By your presence, you made the evening that much more special. If kids learn by example, then these kids had a great lesson in community generosity and support on Saturday night and that is all thanks to you. To all who took part in this fundraising effort, we thank you. We are proud of our little community for making big things happen for our children Sincerely, The PES community
