The Prince of Darkness Grim A roaring lion seeking whom he may - TopicsExpress

The Prince of Darkness Grim A roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, that old serpent, a murderer from the beginning, the father of lies—these are just some of the ways Scripture speaks of the devil. But Jesus Christ, who saw him fall as lightning, cast him out and triumphed over him at the cross. “Get thee hence, Satan,” the Lord cried at the end of His temptations in the wilderness. But what about the devil today? Who is he and what does he do? The evil one is delighted when people hold either of two extremes: denying his existence or having an unhealthy, morbid fascination with him. But there is a middle course! In a lecture in Ballymena, Professor Barry Gritters from America will present the Bibles teaching on Satan, debunking some popular myths along the way. His speech will examine the methods the devil uses, and give sober instruction regarding the real battle that Christians wage against “the prince of the power of the air,” as they live in a very troubled world. Entitled The Prince of Darkness Grim: The Reformed Teaching about Satan, Prof. Gritters speech will take place at the Covenant Protestant Reformed Church (CPRC) in Ballymena on Wednesday 14 January at 7:30 pm. Free light refreshments and a book table with CDs, DVDs and Christian literature will be available afterwards. A lecturer in Practical Theology and New Testament studies, Prof. Gritters will also be speaking for the CPRC at two other meetings in mid-January, for he will preach at both the 11 am and 6 pm services on Sunday 11 January. All are warmly invited to all three meetings in the Covenant Protestant Reformed Church, 83 Clarence Street (off the Cullybackey Road), Ballymena, BT43 5DR.
