The Rastafarian Movement in Jamaica was pioneered in the later part of 1920s after Ras Leonard Howell the Gong herd that a Prince in Ethiopia by the name of Rastafari Makonnen will be crowned in the comming years of 1930 at a UNIA meeting. The philosophy of the Movement is to praised this Man as the Deity and to hold a hard line against the eating of pork... Rastafari Makonnen was crowned H.I.M. Hail Selassie I on July 23, 1930 hence STAMPED the beginning of the Monement with a Primary Gold to Repatriate to Africa. In my UPcoming book to be published Mi Little StoryPoetry Book and More I spoke about the Adaption of Locks, locks wasnt popular amongst the Movement until the late 1950s. Through all the TRIBULATIONS that these peculiar minded people faced in Jamaica with the law and their new Way of Life is now the most described and talked about people in Jamaica through their creativity in Craft, Art, Music, Poetry, Scholastics etc. The Movement is now being defined by all kind of terms by students and people in general, Rastas are sometimes contradictory and seemed to confused alot of persons by their diverse reasoning. You can describe the Movement as a Pan-African Movement but it wasnt pioneered as that, it was pioneered with the mentality of having our own Diety to give thanks unto and thats why most people describe the Movement as religious. People today around the world are seen everywhere wearing locks and sometimes described as Rastas, most of them are not...
