The Red Sox defeated the Yankees 6-1 today at Fenway. The Sox offense finally came alive and John Lackey was excellent, going 6.2 innings, allowing one earned run, six hits, three walks, a hit batter, and a strikeout. Lackey was able to record 15 of his 20 outs via ground ball - including fielding 5 ground balls himself. Dustin Pedroia fouled a ball off his shin in the 8th and did not return to play the field in the 9th. It is believed that he did not sustain any serious injury, but he will be re-evaluated Sunday afternoon. Clay Buchholz threw another successful bullpen session and will throw again Wednesday in San Francisco vs live batters.
