The Release of the Special Task Force Report on the Marathon. I want to share the information that we will be releasing today regarding the report from the Special Task Force on our response to issues related to the Boston Marathon bombing. I’m sure that you were as shocked as we were when this occurred. We want you to know that we initiated this Task Force to learn what we did well and where we need to improve, and to share this learning with other institutions. Firstly, I want to acknowledge the compassion, dedication and commitment that the students, faculty and staff demonstrated during this very stressful period for our community. I am very proud to be the Chancellor of UMass Dartmouth. Secondly, I want to convey my sincere appreciation to the Task Force members for their thoughtful and careful analysis. The report concluded that “the events that befell the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Friday, April 19, 2013, could have happened to any university in the nation or in the world. Fortunately, UMass Dartmouth handled a chaotic and critical event in an exemplary manner and, in doing so, has provided the higher education community with some remarkable lessons.” You can read the Task Force’s full report, see our news release, read President Caret’s statement, and watch a video regarding our response at umassd.edu/report. All of this information is being shared with the media as well. Thank you for your continued support of UMass Dartmouth. Chancellor Divina Grossman
